2018 SWMO Hot Rod Hundred
One of the most common things that I hear is that we need more events that are not car shows, luckily we have the CrossMembers CC and they put on the Hot Rod Hundred. I've been attending the HRH events for a few years and they are all awesome! The SW Missouri HRH happens each year on the Saturday of Easter weekend and is a great excuse to gather up a bunch of hot rod family and go for a run on some cool roads and finish up eating some great BBQ.
My plan was to take my Galaxie for it's third trip to be a part of the SWMO Hot Rod Hundred, but after not touching the car for the last couple of months while I worked on the book, the battery was DEAD. Even my jump start battery couldn't get the car started. So I hopped in the daily driver and made my way down to Joplin, finally getting a room around 10:30. I opened my laptop and worked on the book until about 12:30am, 6am would come all too soon.
After the driver's meeting I rushed out and found a spot on the route to take photos of some of the cars passing by. I always love the action shots! Here are some from the Spencer bridge on Rt 66!
After catching some shots about two miles from the start point I hopped in my daily driver and got on the interstate and leap frogged around the group to station myself at the Spencer Route 66 station. My buddy Quentin Brown was already there so I moved down to this old bridge on the route just up the road. The rain was falling gently when I got perched precariously on the side of the bridge but it wasn't enough to keep me from shooting an image of every single car that was on the run.
Thanks to the CrossMembers CC for allowing me to cover the event and for all of the hard work it takes to put these on.
